1. How much is this going to cost?

Preliminary estimated cost is $8.006,250 which includes a fire training facility. However, the public referendum on November 7th, seeks approval for the city to borrow up to $7,000,000. For a home valued at $100,000, the annual property tax will increase $27.78 or $2.32 per month. The median assessed residential value in Burlington is $97,084. 

2. When will the new station be completed?

This is still an unknown. There are many projects the City of Burlington has planned and will need to prioritize. 

3. Have other sites been considered?

Yes. Several factors were considered when deciding on the site. The location providing for the best overall reduction in response times was the key factor, however, we also considered lot size, availability, and cost. 

4. Are we choosing this site to benefit West Burlington?

This station and the location were chosen to benefit the citizens of Burlington. There are obvious benefits to the citizens of West Burlington and rural Des Moines County, but these are secondary to providing the response time improvements to the citizens of Burlington.
