1. How do I recycle soda bottles and cans?

Bottles with #1, 2 or 5 are recyclable in the curbside program, as are cans, so they may be set out for curbside collection of recyclables. To receive the nickel deposit refund, you must return the bottles to a local redemption center.  Hope Haven Redemption Center, 1819 Douglas Ave.

2. What if I have more recyclables than will fit inside the green recycling bin?

If you have more items to recycle than will fit into your green bin, place the items in a sack, box or other container separated by type along side the bin and they will be collected.

3. Should I remove the labels and caps from bottles and cans before recycling?

It is not necessary to remove labels from any of the recyclable items. Caps should be thrown away in the trash.

4. What about pizza boxes?

Pizza boxes are not recyclable because they are contaminated with foodstuff and cooking oil. Pizza boxes should be thrown away in the trash.

5. Are cereal boxes recyclable?

Cereal boxes are made of paperboard which is not recyclable locally.
