Burlington Police Chief, Marc Denney announces resignation
Burlington Police Chief Marc Denney announced his resignation on Wednesday, October 4. In a letter to City Manager Chad Bird, Denney expressed his gratitude to the citizens of Burlington for the hospitality and unwavering support and most of all, placing trust in local law enforcement. The resignation is immediate, and the City wishes the best to Marc and his family.
Bird addressed members of the police department late Wednesday afternoon and said he will be meeting with members of the department, the city council, and Burlington citizens to begin to review a succession plan for the future of the department and the city. He noted that operations in the department will continue uninterrupted. Bird further stated the search for a Chief will begin immediately but will be a deliberate and thorough process.
