[ARCHIVED] Burlington Fire Department responds to house fire

Press Release

November 20, 2022

At 9:23 p.m. Saturday November 19, 2022 the Burlington and West Burlington Fire Departments were dispatched for a report of a house fire at 800 Harrison Avenue in Burlington.  Due to other emergency responses ongoing, Burlington Firefighters responded with five personnel.  Fire units arrived on the scene three minutes later to find smoke coming from a single-family home and the only occupant accounted for. Firefighters located a fire in the basement and brought it under control within forty-five minutes.

The property is owned by Mr. Rex Windle.  Mr. Windle was alerted to the fire by his dog and he was able to escape unharmed.  A neighbor called 911 to report the fire.

Eight West Burlington Firefighters responded on automatic aid.  Firefighters on the scene were also assisted by the Burlington Police Department, Alliant Energy, The Red Cross, and L.J. Roth Restoration Services.  The Danville and Mediapolis Fire Departments helped to provide additional response coverage to the City of Burlington and West Burlington, as did seven off duty Burlington Firefighters and staff.

Fire and Smoke damages to the single-family home were extensive and damage estimates are not available at this time. The fire remains under investigation and there were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 11:29 p.m.
