[ARCHIVED] Burlington Fire Department responds to house fire

March 5, 2020

At 9:07 AM Thursday March 5, 2020 the Burlington Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 2300 Flint Hills Drive in Burlington.  Fire crews arrived 6 minutes later to find light smoke inside the single story duplex apartment house.  Firefighters located and extinguished a fire above the kitchen ceiling.

The property, owned by Ron Starkey, sustained an estimated $15,000 in damages and is insured.  The apartment was occupied by Missy Branton and her 2 sons.  All were able to escape without injury.  The apartment had working smoke alarms.  The Red Cross has been called for victim assistance. 

The cause of the fire was electrical in nature and is considered accidental.

13 Burlington firefighters responded to the call and remained on the scene until 10:33 AM.  Burlington Police Department and Alliant Energy assisted firefighters on scene.  There were no injuries.
