[ARCHIVED] Burlington Fire Department responds to house fire

January 22, 2020

At 2:09 AM Wednesday January 22, 2020 the Burlington Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 2304 Gordon Street in Burlington.  Firefighters arrived at 2:17 to find light smoke coming from the eaves of the 2-story wood frame house.  Firefighters discovered and contained a small fire above the ceiling of the kitchen near a light fixture.

The single family home is owned and occupied by Allen Lock and is insured.  Damage is estimated at $10,000 to the structure and $5,000 to the contents.  There were 3 additional occupants in the house at the time of the fire and all were able to escape without injury.  There were no working smoke detectors.  The Red Cross has been called for victim assistance.

The fire remains under investigation by the Burlington Fire Department and is not considered suspicious.

11 Burlington firefighters responded to the call and were assisted by 5 West Burlington firefighters responding on automatic aid.  Officers with the Burlington Police Department as well as Alliant Energy also assisted at the scene.  There were no injuries.
