At 6:51 AM Thursday September 5, 2019 the Burlington Fire Department was called to a house fire at 1322 Griswold Street in Burlington. Upon arrival firefighters located a small fire on the outside of the front enclosed porch. The fire was quickly extinguished and the damage was limited to the front porch. The fire was declared extinguished at 7:13 AM.
The house, owned and occupied by Janet Parks, sustained and estimated $3,000 in damages to the structure and is insured. The occupants were alerted to the fire by 2 people driving by and seeing the smoke. They were able to leave the house without injury.
The fire is considered suspicious and is being investigated by the Burlington Police and Fire Departments
Thirteen Burlington firefighters responded to the call and were assisted by three West Burlington firefighters responding on automatic aid. Firefighters remained on the scene until 8:42 AM. There were no injuries.
