The Public Works Directors Office announced today that starting on Monday, August 8th, 2016 at 7:00 a.m. the City’s contractor will begin work on the 2016 HMA Resurfacing Project beginning on Haskell, Ironwood, & Plane from West Avenue to the north. This portion of the project is expected to take 3 weeks weather permitting.
This HMA resurfacing work will result in temporary street closures and/or lane restrictions. The closures and restrictions are required to permit the removal of the old asphalt surface and the cleaning and repair of the street surface prior to asphalt resurfacing. Additionally, once work begins on a street, there will be no parking on the streets within the construction zones until the street surface is restored. Motorists should be cautious of exposed utilities and barricades along the length of the project.
The entire project includes milling, patching, and new asphalt surface on various streets throughout the city. The entire project is expected to take between 8 and 10 weeks.
Additional news releases will be made as the contractor mobilizes to other areas of the project.
