Have you ever wondered how the City functions behind the scenes? Have you ever asked yourself what happens to water when it goes down the drain, or where the water from your faucet comes from? Do you wonder how the Engineering Department prioritizes street repairs, or how Planning and Zoning reviews new developments? We'll tell you, during our 4th annual class of the Burlington Citizens Academy!
This is a free eleven-week series of classes that is designed to teach citizens about how their local government works for them. We will be going on tours of facilities and meeting the people behind the scenes to learn about what goes on day-to-day in these different city departments!
Classes will be held weekly from 5:30 pm- 7:30 pm on Thursday evenings for 11 weeks. We encourage anyone applying to be available to attend most or all classes scheduled to get the most out of this academy.
We will be accepting 12 participants in this class, so space is limited. Applicants must be 18 or older to attend. We will be accepting applications until Monday, March 1st. There are three ways to apply: 1) Fill out the PDF application in the link below and email to Jessica at firstname.lastname@example.org 2) Click on the link below to submit an online application 3) Fill out an application in person at City Hall, 400 Washington Street.
The schedule dates are tentative and will be announced as soon as more guidance on in-person gatherings is released. The hope is to be able to begin classes starting Thursday, March 11th.
