Dankwardt Park Pool

Located inside Dankwardt Park, the Dankwardt Park Pool  is a 50 meter pool with both  1 meter and 3 meter diving boards. The facility also includes a concession stand and a wading pool. The Dankwardt Pool normally opens with the close of Burlington Community Schools and closes when Burlington Schools reopen.  Please call 753-8183 or 753-8117 for additional information.

Must be 72 degrees by noon to open.
7 days a Week & Holidays:
11:30 -12:30: Adult Lap Swim
12:30 - 7:00: Open Swim

Admission Rates

0-3 -  Free
4-14 - $2.25
15 and up - $2.75

Season Passes
Child - $45.00
Adult - $63.00
Family - $95.00 (up to 5 members; $5 each additional member)

Group and Rental Rates
Group and rental rates are available for parties, reunions and special events.  The rate is $60 per hour for up to 30 persons and $70 per hour for more than 30 persons.  Reservations must be made in person with a $15 non-refundable deposit.  Please call 753-8183 for additional information.

Swim Lessons
The Burlington Parks and Recreation Department offers swimming lessons during the open season.  The lessons are offered at the Dankwardt Park Pool in two-week sessions for $24.  Registration begins during open pool hours.

Swim Lesson Sessions
Please register for swim lessons during open swim hours.

Daytime lessons will be held Monday – Thursday mornings with Friday as a make up day.
    Session I         June  9-19                  9:00, 9:45, 10:30
    Session II        June 30 - July 10        9:00, 9:45, 10:30
    Session III       July  14-24                  9:00, 9:45, 10:30

Evening Lessons will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights with Thursday as a make-up day.
    Session I         June 9  – July 3           6:15 p.m.
    Session II        July 7  –  July 30         6:15 p.m.

Class Descriptions
Tiny Tots This is an introductory course to familiarize the child with the water.  This class is for children ages 0-3.
Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
Four and Five
Year Olds
This class is designed to familiarize young children with water and introduce basic swimming skills
Level 1

This group is for children ages six and older who cannot float on their front or back.
Level 2

Students in this session must be able to glide on both their front or back.
Level 3

In this level, students should be able to perform the front and back crawl.
Level 4 & 5 Students will learn the elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke.  Participants will also
learn survival swimming skills, safety procedures, and diving.
