ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD

36.01    MEMBERSHIP. The Economic Development Board consists of five members appointed by the City Council. One of the members shall be a member of the City Council and one member shall be the Finance Director for the City.

36.02    TERMS, VACANCIES. Member terms shall be staggered three year terms expiring on July 1st of the respective year. Initially, two members shall be appointed for three year terms, two for two year terms, and one for a one year term. Appointments to fill vacancies shall be for the balance of the unexpired term.

36.03    CHAIRPERSON AND SECRETARY. The Board shall, at its September meeting, annually select a chairperson. The City Finance Director shall serve as secretary.

36.04    MEETINGS. The Board shall meet the first Tuesday of September, December, March and June or as deemed necessary by the chairperson.

36.05    COMPENSATION. The members of the Board shall serve as such without compensation.

36.06    POWERS AND DUTIES. The Board shall have the authority to review all requests for the expenditure of local option sales tax funds set aside by the City Council for economic development purposes and make a recommendation to the Council regarding such expenditures. The Board has the authority to request, within reason, any information they may need from City staff, the Development Corporation or the company requesting funding they feel is necessary to assist them in making their decision.
