Have you ever wondered how the City functions behind the scenes? Have you ever asked yourself what happens to water when it goes down the drain, or where the water from your faucet comes from? Do you wonder how the Engineering Department prioritizes street repairs, or how Planning and Zoning reviews new developments? We'll tell you, during our 3rd annual class of the Burlington Citizens Academy!
This is a free nine-week series of classes that is designed to teach citizens about how their local government works for them. We will be going on tours of facilities and meeting the people behind the scenes to learn about what goes on day-to-day in these different city departments!
Classes will be held weekly starting February 20th and going until April 20th. Classes run from 5:30 pm- 7:30 pm on Thursday evenings during these 10 weeks. We encourage anyone applying to be available to attend most or all classes scheduled to get the most out of this academy.
We will be accepting 12 participants in this class, so space is limited. Applicants must be 18 or older to attend. We will be accepting applications until Monday, February 10th.
